Perpetual Profession
Br Francis ToLiman & Br Desmond Taboeya
I Am Because We Are
On Saturday 13 April, a large group from the Catholic community of PNG gathered at St Joseph’s Parish Church in Port Moresby to witness the Final Profession of Br Desmond Taboeya and Br Francis ToLiman. The chief celebrant was Sir John Cardinal Ribat MSC, Archbishop of Port Moresby, accompanied by five other Bishops. The Theme of the Mass chosen by Desmond and Francis was, “I am because we are.”
The ceremony commenced with a wonderful cultural experience led by the TOMA community of Port Moresby. During the liturgy, both brothers lay prostrate whilst a beautiful litany of the saints was chanted. An undoubted highlight was the involvement of Desmond and Francis’ families.
At the conclusion of the Mass, the community gathered for refreshments. The occasion was truly life-giving, full of inspiration and hope for the Oceania Province and the Church of PNG.
